IKE Update

For those of you who might be checking on us via this blog, I wanted to give a quick update. IKE hit the coast early morning on Saturday, Sept. 13. We lost power at 3am on Sept. 13 and luckily regained our power at 3pm the same day. We had Grammy staying with us since her neck of the woods was expected to be worse than ours. Grammy returned home on Sept. 13 to check on her house and did not return to our house until late Sept. 14. She spent the night of Sept. 13 without power as did we. Our power went off again on Sept. 13 around 11pm but we got it back on Sept. 14 by 9am. We are considered the lucky ones since 1.6 million of our fellow Houstonians are still without power and water.

We only had a few parts of our fence blow down in the HUGE Storm. The winds were horrendous and scary sounding. Chris looked out the windows during the height of the storm and he said he's glad we didn't. It was bad out there. Again, we are lucky we had no trees fall down into our house, no windows broken and no water damage.

Please keep parts of LA (especially Cameron Parish where most of my LA coworkers live), most of the Houston area and all of Galveston in your prayers. If you have not seen the news, click here for some pictures of these affected areas.

I will update later with some pics that I took of our time during the storm. We've been trying to keep busy and are hoping we can go back to school and work soon.

My office is downtown (see here for a video of the JPMorgan Chase Tower which was hit hard) and I'm not sure when we'll be able to return. Chris's office still has no power and their servers are down (even though they are in Kentucky - Kentucky was hit by IKE and they are without power too!). Caitlin's school goes off of the Cy-Fair ISD schedule and Cy-Fair might not be able to open until next week becuase not all schools have power yet.

Hope all is well where you are, Friends and Family!
Let us know if you need anything.

Love,
Amanda
