20 Week Belly Pics and Some Wedding Pics

We were in my best friend's (Becca and John) wedding last weekend (on day 1 of my 20th week) so I have some new belly shots to share. Caitlin was one of the 7 flower girls and did an awesomely cute job! I was the maid (or is it matron?) of honor and Chris was the photographer (with my sweet camera) :)

It was a fun weekend - especially the prep - Becca and I spent most of Saturday (wedding was at 5:30 pm) getting our nails, hair and make-up done.

Here are some pics of us. If you'd like to see more pics from the wedding (err, all 450, you can go here.

Hope you all are having a great weekend.
Love,
Amanda

Please continue to pray...

...for my Caitlin. She had fever last night and this morning and her sore throat is worse than last week. Chris is home with her today and she appears to be winning out over the fever when Tylenol is given but she is still quiet. Caitlin is not generally quiet. I have another call into the nurse - they called me this morning and think that it is viral on top of the Strep but I wonder if the meds are just not working to kill the Strep...of course my mind wanders and I hope it's not the flu...please just keep her in your prayers, if possible.

...for everyone out there who is hurting. As we all have come to know: Prayer Changes Everything and the prayer movement is so awesome out here in blog world! As I posted on the prayer blog last week, there's a new prayer movement on April's Mommy's blog. As most of you know, MckMama's blog has always been a source of prayer (both for Stellan and for others) requests. Last night she posted and there are more than 700 prayer requests in the comments section! I just had it on my heart to say "out loud" again how important prayer is...

...for my health. I have had more tests and will have more in the upcoming weeks. I hope to be able to share with you soon the details.

Love,
Amanda

P.S. I am 19 weeks and 4 days today :) I love this baby so much as I feel he or she wiggling around inside daily. Please pray for us as we approach the 20 week ultrasound (May 14th). I have so much excitement bubbling up inside about this appointment (I want to know what the sex is!) but I'm also anxious about it.

Praise God!

Yesterday morning, Cait woke up with a sore throat, runny nose and a bad cough - out of the blue.

I, of course, worried it was the piggy flu!

We got her an appointment today and her tests confirmed Strep Throat!! Praise the Lord that she doesn't have the piggy flu!

Her pediatrician recommended (to my mom who so graciously has cared for Cait the past 2 days while we're at work) that she stay away from me for 24 hours (so that I/the baby) don't get sick. So, we have to be without our girl tonight but hopefully I can go pick her up after lunchtime tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Love,
Amanda

Just stoppin' by quickly (while at work)...

Checkout Caitlin’s 2008-2009 Montessori school picture.
Just in case: Caitlin is the 3rd from the right in the front row (in pink) :)

Her teachers are: Ms. Ginger on the right and Ms. Amanda on the left.

She graduates next month from Montessori (in a blue cap and gown, no less!) – I’ll be sure to take good pics and videos to post :)

We are all registered and ready for Kindergarten to start on August 24th! Wow, can't believe it!

16 week appointment update and Belly Pics

Update:

Today I had my 16 week OB appointment. I am 16w5d pregnant with our next miracle. I was nervous going today just because it had been so long since my last appointment. I had been going every two weeks and when I had to wait 4, it seemed like an eternity! The nurse found the baby's heartbeat pretty quickly with the Doppler. The heart rate was a great 152. I was overjoyed to hear that precious sound! My doctor was out today doing an emergency c-section so I had to see a nurse practitioner I had not seen before. Barbara was nice but she wasn't my doctor...She didn't measure the baby (with the measuring tape) but she felt around on my belly and said that the baby was growing very well. What a relief! Since I had actually lost weight in the 1st trimester, I had hoped that during the last 3 weeks I'd gained some weight...I gained 10 pounds in 4 weeks!! Wow!! Maybe I need to pace myself since I should only gain a total of 30 :) We talked about some other things and I got her to sign a form I need to rent a Doppler for home use (I'm using StorkRadio). Now I can listen to that miraculous sound anytime I want :) All in all, it was a good visit. I made the appointment for the "big" ultrasound (to find out the sex of the baby) and that is on Thursday, May 14th at 8:30 am!! We can't wait :)

Request:

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask specifically for you to please pray for my health. There have been some issues popping up lately (that I hope to never have to go into, but might be able to talk about at a later date). I have been undergoing some tests, taking some meds and will find out results of the tests within the next few weeks. Please pray that all is okay and that these tests and meds are just precautionary. Please also keep the baby in your prayers as we are not sure if any of this is affecting the baby. Thank you.

Pics:

Here are some pics from Saturday when I turned 16 weeks. I thought it was time to start documenting this growing belly :) I also added a family picture we took on Saturday.

True Love

Have you ever heard this song? A very talented musician at our church played his guitar and sang this on Easter Sunday. It was beautiful, moving and perfect. I just wanted to share it with you.

True Love
By Phil Wickham

Come close,
Listen to the story
About a love more faithful
Than the morning
The Father gave
His only Son
Just to save us

Chorus:
The earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt
The Father's broken heart
Tears were filling heaven's eyes
The day the true love died,
The day the true love died.
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move
Came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day the true love died,
The day the true love died

Search your hearts
You know you can't deny it
C'mon Lose your life
Just so you can find it
The Father gave
His only Son
Just to save us

Chorus

Bridge:
Jesus is alive Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive He is alive
He rose again!

When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move
Came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day the true love died,
The day the true love died

Come close listen to the story

------------------------------------------

I hope this song moved you as much as it did me.

I hope to post an update after my 16 week appointment tomorrow and may even post some belly pics :)

Love,
Amanda

Happy Easter!

Just wanted to pop in and tell everyone, "Happy Easter!"
I've missed posting (regularly) these past 16 weeks and hope to get back into blogging soon.
I've missed you all and still pray for ya'll daily.

As we celebrate this weekend, let us remember that The Lord is in control - no matter what - and that He died for us!! How amazing is that?!? I can't wait to go praise His Holy Name on Sunday but mostly I'm just so thankful for what He has given to me and my family. We've been redeemed and we can find rest in His loving arms. He loves us and will forever!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Amanda

One Year

I cannot believe that it’s been one year since my second child went to Heaven. So much has happened in one year that it’s hard to articulate or fathom. My heart has been broken in a million pieces since that fateful day, but somehow it has been slowly put back together through healing that only the Lord has been able to provide to me.

Although I’d love to write a long memorial for Noah, I am led to share a few things I’ve learned since last March 26th and to hope that Noah’s very short life has not only touched my heart and changed my life, but that it has touched and changed others’.

I have learned that the Lord loves me and can comfort my soul no matter the situation I find myself in.
I have learned that prayer changes everything.
I have learned to love deeper.
I have learned that miracles happen everyday. We just have to look out for them.
I have learned that things don’t always go my way and that God is leading me in the path that He has chosen for me.

I am called to be a mother. I know that. I love my kids - born, unborn or in heaven. There will always be a missing piece to my heart. I call that piece my Noah piece. I will always remember and love him.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me a family that loves me and for letting me have 9.5 precious weeks with Noah Joel last year. Thank you, Lord, for sending us another miracle that is growing within me as I type this. Thank you for second (and third) chances. Thank you, Lord, for your mercies that start new every morning.

In loving memory of Noah Joel Hoyt.

Love,
Amanda

12w3d Baby Hoyt Update and Picture

Hi!

Sorry it took me a while to post again. I still have been having all day sickness (and I'm 12w6d today - I had hoped that I would feel better by now). Also, it took me a while to post after getting all of your sweet comments and emails after my last post. If I have not replied to you yet, I promise I will (if your email is connected to your comment). We are so blessed to have such great friends and family who care so much about us and our little lives. I so appreciate your kind words, thoughts, prayers and love.

I just wanted to let you know that my appointment went well on Tuesday, March 17. The baby is great (heartrate 153). I got to see the baby moving his or her hands in front of the face and the baby has moved to the opposite side of the uterus (since my last ultrasound on March 6). I gave blood for the Down’s test but won’t know the results for 1-3 weeks. Per the doctor, the ultrasound showed a healthy baby. Also, I have now become a “normal” patient and won’t return to see the doctor until April 16. By then I’ll be almost 17 weeks. Finding out that I'm normal was a shock, to say the least. I've gotten so accustomed to finding out some sort of news (usually not so good news) at these OB appointments that it was shocking to hear that everything was fine and "see you in 4 weeks." At lunch after the appointment, I actually asked my mom, "Did we just go see the doctor???" It just felt so - uneventful. I'm so glad for uneventfulness (is that a real word?) :) My next appointment after that will be around 20 weeks and we’ll get to find out the sex - Yipee :)

Here's our newest Little One with his or her hand up near the face. I'm already in love.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Love,
Amanda

Our Third Miracle

This post has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to finally be writing it!

We found out on January 15, 18 and 20th that the Lord has blessed us with another miracle baby (yep, I took 3 home tests because I really could not believe it!).

We decided to keep this news our secret (just Chris and I) until 11 or 12 weeks – just in case. After going through the heartbreaking loss of Noah last March, we not only couldn’t tell Caitlin “too early” (she took Noah’s passing almost as hard as I did) but we didn’t want to get anyone too excited too early – this time. We were “cautiously optimistic” and if you ask either one of us today how we feel, we both would probably tell you the same answer. We are super excited to have been called to be parents to this little miracle growing inside of me, but we have been through early pregnancy loss before and it was (and is) devastatingly painful. We have trust in our Lord that he will bring us through this pregnancy and that we will have a live and healthy baby on or around September 26th but we also trust that what is God’s will, is God’s will.

When I posted my Still Here post a few weeks ago, we were going through some very hard times with this pregnancy. Not only have I had “morning, noon and night sickness” since conception, we have had some major scares. My blogging sort of stopped as we were dealing with what might be happening and I felt bad about leaving you all for so long. I still prayed for ya’ll and still emailed some of you in the meantime, but just getting online sometimes was not only physically but emotionally painful.

At 7 weeks we had our first ultrasound (my doctor’s office does the first one at that stage). Everything was great. Baby was measuring 2 days ahead (and still has continuously measured as such since then) and had a heart rate of 132 bpm. We were overjoyed to hear that heartbeat and see the baby.

Then, when I was 7w2d, I began to bleed. We were sure that it was the end for this little one. The ultrasound showed differently and we were able to see baby alive and well again on ultrasound. The heart rate was 147 bpm. We really couldn’t even believe what was happening…why was I bleeding but the baby was still ok? We just had to trust that things were going to be ok. The doctor put me on bedrest for a week. By this time, we knew we had to let a few people in on our news so that we could get the help we needed. My boss is amazing and I was able to work from bed on my laptop when I felt up to it. He didn’t expect me to come back until I was ready. He just wanted me to get the rest I needed to protect our baby. My mom came over each day and got Caitlin ready for school and would drop her off and come back and do all my cooking, cleaning and organizing. She is really an amazing mom and I couldn’t ask for more. Miraculously she retired from teaching (after 25+ years) only 4 short weeks before this happened. She has been so available to us through all of this and we are so appreciative of her willingness and ability to help us. During those 8 days in bed Caitlin never asked why I was sick. When I told her that I didn’t feel good she never pressed for a reason why (if you know Caitlin, she has to know the why to everything!).

The morning I was going to return to work (8w3d) I fainted in the shower and literally fell out of it (through the door and onto the floor!) I have no idea how my lower leg braced my fall and I didn’t hit my head or anything else, but I woke up after I fell and Chris came running in and helped me to bed. I think a combination of being in bed for a week and then getting up that morning like “normal” at 4:40 am and just “hopping” in the (hot) shower did me in. My mom took me to an ER place that early afternoon (long story but my doctor’s office would not see me because I had experienced “trauma”)…the ER place was very nice and they checked me out and had an ultrasound tech come out to check the baby. Baby was still good with a heart rate of 164 bmp. This time, though, she found something. A tear in the placenta. Of course, I was scared. No wonder I was bleeding/spotting still…the facility advised that I could return to work that week and to follow up with my OB. I had an appointment already scheduled for a few days from then.

At 8w6d I had another ultrasound at my OB’s office. They confirmed the tear and my doctor assured me that it would reabsorb and all would be ok within a few weeks. I had trouble understanding this but knew I had to trust that all would be ok.

Yesterday I had my follow-up appointment at 10w6d. The baby was huge compared to 2 weeks ago and I could see the legs, arms, umbilical cord and profile of the entire body (including the face!) His or her little arms and legs were flailing around and the legs were kicking a lot! It was so amazing to see God’s creation moving around inside of me!! The heart rate was 155 bpm and everything looked good – including the fact that (PRAISE GOD!) the placenta tear is gone!!!!!!!!!!! We are so excited by this news. Finally, I can rest and know that things ARE going to be ok.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during the last several weeks. I could feel them and knew that we were covered in prayer. As we know, PRAYER CHANGES EVERYTHING, and in these circumstances we’ve found ourselves in since February 9th, we’ve done a lot of praying.

We did end up telling Caitlin about the baby last weekend and she is excited. She hasn’t talked much about it or asked us many questions, but when we talk about it she just lights up! The night we told her, we were still eating dinner. After that, she went to the bathroom to wash her hands and we could hear her singing a little song to herself about a baby. It was sooo cute!

Thank you, Lord, for your blessings.

Hello, in there, to our Bundle of Joy :) You must be a strong little fighter to have stayed with us this long and we cherish each day with you. Thank you for picking us to be your parents – we can’t wait to hold you in 29 weeks. We love you!!

Thank you to Chris and Caitlin, for putting up with me while I'm sick and just want to lay in bed.

Friends and Family, we hope you’ll stick around to watch our family grow once again.

Love,
Amanda

Honest Scrap Award

Hi Ya'll.

Sorry I have not updated lately...Although I have been keeping up with reading everyone else's blogs; I have been lazy about updating mine.

Wanna know the reason? :) After we got my camera and some other things for Christmas we finally got a safe to keep everything in...I cannot figure out for the life of me how to open the thing. Chris is the only one who is able to and I have to wait for him to unlock it and get my camera and so I've not been taking as many pics as I'd like to.

I'm going to have to spend a day learning that combination so that I can do what I want when I want to!

So, without further adieu, I have gotten several awards over the past month or so and I need to start posting those...

In no particular order, I'm starting with the Honest Scrap Award I got from Andrea. Thank you! You are too sweet :)

The rules of the award are:

1) Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design.

2) Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with "Honest Scrap." Well, there's no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon.

3) List at least 10 honest things about yourself.

So, here are 10 honest things about myself:

1) I wear business dress and high heels everyday of the work week and love to come home each night and put on my raggedy pajamas and slippers. If I could dress like this everywhere, I would.

2) I have never done anything to my hair except cut it. No perms, no coloring, no highlighting. Just plain old Amanda hair for almost 30 years!

3) I love the color green.

4) I love to watch reality TV.

5) My husband is 13 years older than me.

6) My husband and I met when I was 18 and he was 30. I was sitting at the bar of The Black Eyed Pea and he served me a chocolate milk shake.

7) When Chris and I first started talking about a future (around 3 months after meeting), we discussed having 3 kids.

8) I love riding on the back of Chris's Harley Davidson. It's freeing and fun!

9) I accepted Christ as my personal savior when I was 5 years old.

10) I cannot believe that my baby, Caitlin, starts kindergarten on August 24, 2009!

I am passing this along to:

Michelle
Melanie
Debbi
Stephanie
Heather
Amie
Devin.

Thank you to all of you who share your lives with me in blog fashion. You all are honest and I count you as friends.

Love,
Amanda
