Melanie's baby, Nehemiah's, Heaven Date - March 22 (three years)

Today is an important day for my friend Melanie. Three years ago today she lost her precious tiny angel baby Nehemiah to early miscarriage. She lost her baby 4 days before I lost Noah. We have so much in common it's scary. She reached out to me on CafeMom when I was searching for answers and friendship after my loss. I love her for her encouraging nature and for understanding exactly how I feel since my loss. Knowing that we've each gone through very similar circumstances makes us both feel good - like we are not alone.

Thank you, Melanie, for being there for me. I have your sweet baby's name permanently written on my heart. You and your family are always in my prayers.

Since you have your miracle Elanie now, you know what you have missed with Nehemiah, but you also know that the Lord brought you to and through your loss so that you could have Elanie and enjoy her all the more.

Love you sweet friend! I'm here when you need me.
Big gigantic hugs!
Love,
Amanda

Meeting Melanie & her family last year for the first time - such an awesome experience it was to meet a friend you've met and connected with (emotionally) online!! :)

Teresa's First Round of Chemo

Hi Family and Friends,

Yesterday was chemo day #1 for our Sweet T!

It started at 8 am. They hooked her up thru her port and gave her an IV of fluids first. Her port is still really sore, but she took some pain meds so "it's all good."

After the IV, she started drug #1 of 4.

She has to go back today for an injection into her stomach that will stimulate her white blood cell marrow to replenish faster.

I asked her how she was doing at approx 11:30 yesterday and she said the she was tired and that they gave her Benadryl first and it "is wigging me out!" LOL

She is in a fighting mood! Ready to murder those monsters ASAP :)

I have attached 3 pics that she sent right before chemo started.

She found out yesterday that she will be having 5 more treatments instead of 3 more. That’s good though because that means that those monsters will be attacked and killed for even longer :)

Today she said that she is queasy but overall she’s ok :)

We are praying that this mega chemo does not make her as sick or run down as the doctor said it could. Please also pray that she is a "lucky" one who does not have hair loss immediately (or at all). And of course, we have to have faith that these treatments will rid her body of all cancer cells!

Thanks ya'll,
Amanda

Teresa's Scan Results - GREAT NEWS!

Teresa met with her oncologist today at 12. By 12:08 she texted me and said, “All Clear!” For once, she has been handed GREAT news! The scans and (more) blood tests from yesterday confirm that there is NO SPREADING!!!!

We are ecstatic to hear this news! Sweet T deserved this break.

She will begin chemo tomorrow for the first time. They told her that she will have chemo every three weeks for 4 months.

Please continue to pray for miracles to occur in Teresa’s and her family’s lives. Although the next several months will be demanding on T and her family both physically and mentally, we know that she will beat this monster! We need our Sweet T back here at work. She is sooo missed!

Thanks ya’ll,
Amanda

Sweet T

I wish I had more energy to write this post - but if you read or stumbled upon my blog, please pray for my friend Teresa (who I call Sweet T). She was diagnosed with Stage 1, HER2+, hormone negative breast cancer on January 24th. She is going to MD Anderson Cancer Center and just began the journey with MDACC on February 15. Please pray that the doctors involved will make the right recommendations and decisions regarding T's care. Please pray for T's strength (both physically and mentally) as she fights the hardest battle of her life. Please pray for T's family. She is married to a wonderful man (Daryl), has 2 precious kids (Tara and Blake) and a sweet grand baby (Brynleigh). Her worst fear is to hurt her kids by having them go through this trial with her. Her family is her life. She needs all the support she can get. Thank you for listening and thank you in advance for your support and prayers.
My heart has been heavy and my prayers abundant since January 24. When I have more information, I will update the blog.
Love,
Amanda

"The Missed Carriage" - a must read!

Moms who have suffered loss & those who know someone who has lost a baby through miscarriage, please take four minutes to read this.
http://www.momlifetoday.com/2011/01/missed-carriage/

Some of the parts that blessed me are: "God has never allowed me to experience the pain of miscarriage without learning more about His goodness. I have learned many things by saying goodbye to my babies I may not have had the opportunity to learn any other way. I know God is in control of every life. But I rest assured knowing that Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. This little precious child was given to me but for a short time and is now in the presence of Jesus. The old saying goes, ‘time heals all wounds,’ but miscarriage is a wound that will never completely heal."

Thank you, Devin, for sharing this article. It articulates exactly what most (who have lost our babies) feel.

Love,
Amanda

P.S. Lord, I lift up any who are currently in the midst of losing their child (or children). May they feel the loving arms of the Father wrapping around them. May they feel peace that passes all understanding. Thank you, Lord. Amen

Missing Ya'll and Recent Pics of The Girls

Hi BlogLand! I am missing you these days! I wish there were more hours in the day so that I could blog and check on my friends in BlogLand :)

Seems like forever since I posted pics of the girls, so I thought I'd put a few up today from Thanksgiving, the night we decorated our Christmas tree and from this past weekend when we visited the RiverWalk in San Antonio.

I hope you all are well and are having fun getting ready for Christmas.

Miss ya'll and Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
Love,
Amanda

October 24, 2010 - Remembering

Our second child was to be born on October 24, 2008. I can’t believe it’s been 2 years.

Several things stick with me about that day, including the sadness I felt that I was not bringing another baby into our family, the emptiness I felt because I would never hold the child we tried so long and hard for, the guilt I felt for not carrying a baby to term as well as the guilt I could not shake that I had put my daughter (who was at the time only 4 years old) through a situation where she was grieving the loss of a sibling she had already grown to love after only knowing about him for 5 ½ weeks. She knew that I was sad on October 24, 2008 and because she was already familiar with the idea of death at such a young age, really showed me how much she hurt on that day.

In August of 2008, Chris and I went to get tattoos. Mine was in loving memory of my Noah Joel. I had a hard time with really believing that it was ME in that chair. I would have never thought that it would happen to me. Not only getting a tattoo but that I was commemorating a lost child forever on my body.

In July of this year, we, as a family, had professional pictures made by my friend, Dianna. I had an idea of each and every pose I wanted our family to have and the girls to have (both alone and together). The process that I planned for the photo shoot was so detailed, that Dianna told me that I was probably the most organized client she had! One of the pictures that I wanted to have made included Caitlin and myself.

This picture would be important only to me – for my viewing only until I was ready to share it. I needed a visual reminder to hang on the wall for me to see whenever I wanted to and to remember my lost baby through that medium (a photo). At first, I thought I might just have Dianna photograph me, alone with my tattoo showing. Then I thought that since Caitlin took that time of our lives so hard, that I would get her to pose in this important picture with me. I did not tell her or Chris about the planned pose. I only asked Dianna to do it and she of course agreed.

Once the poses were photographed I was not sure if they would really come out. A few weeks later when Dianna showed us our pictures from the session, my heart skipped a beat, my breath was taken away and I could have cried at that very moment. Dianna had captured the shot just as I had imagined and hoped.

I think, on this day, in remembrance of our lost baby, I would like to share this picture with you - My friends, my family and anyone who reads this blog :)

Thank you for sharing these moments with us. Thank you for your kindness and thank you for remembering Noah Joel with us on this day.

Love,
Amanda

October 15, 2010 – Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

As many of you know, this day every year is a time for those of us who have lost a baby through miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy, a still birth, or the loss of an infant can remember our babies and reflect on our lives during the dark time(s) in our lives as well as where we’ve gone since our loss(es) and how much hope we have for the future.

I’ve been in this “club” since March 26, 2008, so I’ve taken part in two October 15ths. No one wants to ever belong to this “club” but while we find ourselves in this life we now live, we find it comforting that we can and that others are remembering all of our babies on this day of the year.

Thank you for those of you who are remembering our tiny angel baby, Noah Joel. It means a lot.

Hugs and prayers to all of you who are remembering today, what and who might have been.

Love,
Amanda
