October 6, 2005 - The Hoyt Family Update

Hi Everyone,

Hope your week has been good so far. We're looking forward to this cold front that's supposed to roll in tonight and tomorrow. We hope you all enjoy this weekend.

Some updates in the Hoyt family include:

1) Caitlin said "bread" to me while eating a slice
2) Caitlin said "again" to Grandpa when she wanted to slide again at the park
3) Caitlin said "button" while taking a bath and asking me to turn on the whirlpool
4) **Amazing***Caitlin can tell you the VOWELS in both English and Spanish!! Martha, Missy and Chris have all been working with Caitlin on saying A-E-I-O-U. I didn't believe that she could do it and this morning after she got out of bed, I asked her to tell Mamma her vowels and she said, "AEIOU" in Spanish!! So amazing!!
5) Caitlin said "go outside" to Chris after they walked outside tonight.

Our little girl is almost racing to become a big girl (it seems). So grownup, and always topping herself when I can't even believe she's 16 months already! She's still very loving and loves to kiss and hug us and her "babies."

Today, Big Mamma took Caitlin and Taylor to her pool in the back. The girls had fun playing in the "agua" and Marisa took some of the pictures below. So cute!

Also, enjoy the pictures I took on the night of the 3rd and the 4th.

Have a great Friday, Everyone!

Love,
Amanda

P.S. Chris, I know you're reading this right now (on October 7th, 2005) and I want to wish you a Happy 5th Anniversary! I love you so much and hope that you are having a good day. I am so glad I married you 5 years ago and can't wait to make 50 years more memories with you! You are my life and my love.
Forever yours,
Amanda

October 3, 2005 - Playing "Tiny Baby"

Caitlin had to get up into her bassinet even though Mommy says that it's for "tiny babies." She loved it up there and I could barely get her out to go to bed!!

Caitlin trying on her baby bonnet - she had it on for such a long time and it was sooo cute, but as soon as I grabbed that camera she wanted the hat off!!

October 1, 2005 - Update and Redo of September 29th Blog

Hello to Everyone,

Well, I was updating my profile tonight on the blog website and accidentally deleted the last postings I made (on September 29th)...so, I'll update you on some other things and pictures as well as redo the one from the other day.

Here goes:

Some new things that Caitlin has been doing and saying are:

1) She said "doorbell" to Missy

2) She said "babies" to Chris and me

3) She's trying to put her clothes on and take them off all by herself now. She also has to pick out her own clothes in the morning and her PJs at night. She won't really let me help her put them on - she struggles and when she gets frustrated she'll call for "DaDa" to help her. Chris usually ends up dressing her! For whatever reason she stays still and calm for him.

4) She can climb on and off of the couch

5) She said "tortilla" when I was feeding her one

6) **New - forgot on Sept. 29th to say** She said "PaPa" while at MeMe's house while she was looking around the house for Grandpa.

7) She said "bubbles" while taking a bubble bath

8) She screams alot(!!) to get her way, show her happiness and while she's looking for Joy.

9) She said "bath"

10) She said "book"

11) She said "on" while asking me to turn her ladybug lamp on

12) **New since Thursday** She said "bunny" to me and Big Mamma

13) **New since Friday** She said "welcome" to Missy and Big Mamma - short for "you're welcome" when they said "thank you" to her for handing them something at lunch.

As I tried to say on the 29th, Caitlin is getting so grown up and is so smart! She does some things that most grownups don't do! She gets a coaster to set her sippy cup on the coffee table!!

Also, a story I told on the 29th blog was having to do with what a clean freak Caitlin is...she would not go into her little cottage until we cleaned off the floor...it had dog hair and some pieces of grass in it. She would stand at the door and point in making her "trash" noise (it sounds like she's clearing her throat) until we cleaned it. Chris vacuumed it out and she finally (after some coaxing on his part since she was deathly afraid of the vacuum and still didn't believe that the floor was clean enough yet!!!) went in.

Tonight we went over to our neighbor's house and Caitlin playing with Taylor in the backyard. She has a little Jeep that they played in.

Please see the pics from the 29th and today below.

Enjoy and forgive me for my deletion of that blog.

Happy Saturday night,
Love,
Amanda

September 26, 2005 - After Rita

Hello to All,

We are blessed to report that we are fine after Hurricane Rita hit to the East of us in areas of Texas near Beaumont and portions of Louisiana.

We stayed home and Friday ended up being a pretty normal stormy, windy night. No damage and no power outage. We feel very fortunate that our community was spared this disaster.

Chris and I did not have work today and I don't have to go back until Wednesday. So, we're just enjoying some downtime in light of the storm.

Here are some pics of Miss Caitlin enjoying time at home with Mommy and Daddy on Sunday.

Love to All,
Amanda

September 22, 2005 - Hurricane Rita

Hi to All,

We hope that you all are safe and out of harm's way of Hurricane Rita...we hope that we are!..

As of this moment (and things have changed since yesterday and things, I guess, could change again) we are staying at our house in Cypress. We have two sets of neighbors (Big Mamma and her family and Marisa & Doug and their family) and my Mom and Ron are right down the stret - that plan to all stick together in this.

Just wanted to let some of you know where we are in case of this impending emergency!

We love you all and hope to blog/talk to you/see you all again :)

Love,
Chris, Amanda, Caitlin, Joy and Cat

Since I posted last, Caitlin has said some more words and has done some new things:

1) September 13 - said "MeMe" for Grandma (Melinda)
2) September 14 - said "backpack" for her purple backpack that Big Mamma bought for her
3) September 15 - said "my Mommy" while pointing at her diaper bag at Big Mamma's
4) September 16 - said "bug" and "hat"
5) Caitlin can point to all her body parts if she's asked
6) Caitlin can point to herself if asked, "Where is Caitlin?"

Our baby is sooooo big!

We hope you are having a good week so far :)

Love,
Amanda

September 12, 2005 - More Updates (as promised)

Hi Ya'll,

As promised, here's some more things that Miss Cait's been up to these days:

1) She puts her dirty clothes into her dirty clothes hamper all by herself! She's kind of obsessed about it even - running around looking for more dirty clothes to put in there!

2) September 6, 2005 - First skinned knee - no tears - just dusted herself off and kept on going!

3) At Big Mamma's she said "butter" - short for "butterfly" - a word that Missy was trying to teach her.

4) Says "agua" for water. She knows if you ask her, "do you want some water," and replies, "agua."

5) Can say "hat." She learned this word on Friday when she saw that pink hat at the store and had to have it. She put it on her head immediately! She wore it all weekend.

6) She will blow her nose if you ask her to. Since she's getting those canine teeth in as we speak, her nose has been running sometimes.

7) Sunday as Chris let me sleep in, she did the unthinkable:
Got her coloring book, pulled Chris into kitchen and pointed to where I keep the crayons - behind a stack of papers next to our phone. How did she know that they were there? She'd maybe seen me 9 days prior putting them there, but...WOW! When Chris gave them to her, she took the box and the book and went to the "coloring mat" and sat down and started coloring!!

8) At Big Mamma's today, she said "Mother" and "bell." She also did something very grown up today at Big Mamma's: She would run to her all day when wet and say loudly "Mamma!" and touch her diaper!! She was telling her that she was wet and wanted to be changed!!

I don't know what to say...Caitlin is just sooo smart!
We love her so much!!

Enjoy the new pictures below!

Good night and sleep tight everyone,
Love,
Amanda

September 12, 2005 - Caitlin's 15 Month Doctor Appointment Update

We went to Caitlin's 15 month doctor visit on September 6th. The doctor walked in and said, "Caitlin, you're getting prettier and prettier each time I see you." She got measured and then got her shots. She weighed in at 23.4 pounds and is between the 50-75th percentile for weight. She measured 30 3/4 inches tall and is in the 75th percentile for height. Her head circumference measured in at 46.5 cm. The doctor told me, "She looks like she's very well cared for and very very loved." She also said, "She's PERFECT." She's not in the category of "infant" anymore due to her weight. Caitlin is now considered a "toddler."

She's just so aware of everything around her and seems to know so much. I'll do another update tonight with pictures and more words that Cait has said in the past week...

Have a good one.
Love,
Amanda

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANYA!!

September 5, 2005 - Caitlin Love Update

Good Evening to All,

We Hope your Labor Day was enjoyable and that you all got your needed rest...

Our hearts and prayers go out to all the victims of Hurricane Katrina. What I've been watching on the news since Monday has been heart wrenching...I feel so fortunate to have our family healthy and intact at this time.

Just wanted to pass along some updates on Miss Caitlin Love:

1) In case I've never said it before, Caitlin loves Baseball! Whenever she sees it on TV or sees a picture in the newspaper that's in regards to baseball, she claps and gets very happy and excited. It's so cute to see it and I'm sure it makes Chris feel very happy! Someday soon they can start to play sports together!

2) Sometime in August Cait started wanting to eat with a spoon - her yogurt and applesauce...She's getting better at it and even gets the yogurt out of the fridge (I have to open it) and opens the spoon drawer for me to get the spoon out for her!

3) At their visit a few weekends ago, Caitlin's Great Grandma Grace said two very special things to me about Cait: "She's a very special girl," and "There will be no one else quite like her." ...(smile)...

4) For the past 2-3 weeks (or more) Caitlin has been pulling us by the shirt or pant tails in order for us to get up and follow her where she wants to go.

5) She said "Ca Ca" to Big Mamma in regards to her sippy cup - we translated this into "Cup."

6) Caitlin can point to a color chart of red, yellow and green and identify which one you ask her to.

7) Last week at Big Mamma's, Caitlin said the following: "What is it?," and "What's that?," and "My DaDa."

9) This weekend, Cait said the following: "Sandals," "Kitty Cat," "Dog," "Ball," and "Night Night."

Well, I've said it before, and I'll say it again --- My little tiny baby is growing up and is sooooooooo smart!

Love to all,
Amanda

I got this shot at at time when she was in the middle of moving, but it looks like she's saying, "Are you sure????"

August 30, 2005 - Playing Dress-Up

Before I got home on this evening, Chris and Caitlin had been playing dress-up in Daddy's shirt. She was very much into it then, but when Chris wanted to show me when I got home, Caitlin didn't want to have any part in it. Oh well, cute picture anyway!
